A City Chic Wedding at Old Marylebone Town Hall

There are venues you photograph, and there are venues you know by heart. Old Marylebone Town Hall is the second kind for me. I live just around the corner, I walk past those famous steps more times than I can count, and I have photographed so many weddings here that I know exactly where the light falls at every hour of the day. So when this stylish couple booked me for their city chic celebration, I knew we were going to make something special.

This City Chic Celebration

This wedding was everything I love about a London town hall celebration. The bride wore a corseted satin mini dress with a simple bouquet of calla lilies, the groom a classic three piece tuxedo, and together they looked like they had stepped out of a sixties fashion editorial. They said their vows in the Westminster Room before bursting out of its doors hand in hand, all smiles and fists in the air.

Then came my favourite part of any Marylebone wedding, the confetti moment on those iconic steps, with guests lining both sides and colour raining down. We finished with a detail that could not have been more London if it tried, a vintage red Routemaster bus with a Just Married sign waiting outside to whisk everyone off to the celebrations. Chic, joyful and unmistakably city.

The Best Photography Spots at Old Marylebone Town Hall

After so many weddings here, I have my treasured corners, and this day used nearly all of them. The famous front steps, framed by towering Corinthian columns, are the essential shot, whether for confetti or a quiet portrait in the stone niches beside the entrance. Inside, the marble staircase with its sweeping bronze handrails and the round porthole window on the landing give you that clean, editorial backdrop couples fall in love with. The upper galleries, with their balustrades and honour boards, offer elegant elevated angles while guests gather below. And the flower lined main stair makes the perfect just married descent. Every one of these spots is within a minute of the ceremony rooms, which is exactly why this venue delivers such a rich gallery from a short ceremony.
